I walked down to the harbor, fascinated by the sea

There I found the old man , a job he offered me

I had six pence in my pocket, the whole world at my feet

Shook the hand of me Ad, said goodbye to my Ma

And headed out to sea

Now I miss dear Ireland, my home it will always be

We were sailing to a land of promise,

A land of silver and gold,

but we arrived in the winter time,

It was so very cold

Things got rough and then they got tough

Hungry we would be

Then I met a lass, a sweet bonnie lass

A family soon we would be

But we hit the skids

When we had six kids

And the baby died at three

Then late one night

As I turned out the light

The phone so loud so shrill

The news was of dread

For me own Ma was dead

I miss her . I always will
